Atwell’s evolving ESG program will impact its people, clients, and communities

The sky is partly cloudy with the sun setting on the horizon, creating a serene atmosphere. This ESG program benefits clients and farmland, with trees visible in the background.

At the Atwell Family of Companies (Atwell), we are continually evaluating and evolving our efforts to remain a top consulting, engineering, and construction services firm. As part of this progression, we have developed our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) plan. Our ESG plan aims to embody the strong work that we’re already doing, formalize it under a unified strategy, and set the framework for the future. Companies that embrace ESG principles aren’t just more resilient in the face of challenges; they’re also more innovative, more competitive, and more attractive to clients.

ESG has become more than just a buzzword. It can help us be more competitive in the marketplace, reduce risk, retain staff, and further adhere to our company values. ESG is a commitment to our clients, employees, and communities, and it takes into consideration the meaningful work we’re already doing as a company
such as:

  • Hosting Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) where our employees can access support, connection, and resources for development, growth, and belonging. They focus on creating unique committees that foster an inclusive and diverse workforce.
  • Reducing idling time for our organization’s fleet to continue to measure ourselves against best-in-class comparable fleets.
  • Improving our safety statistics and sustainability scores within ISNetworld, a supplier information management system that more than 80 of our current clients rely on.
  • Engaging in Client driven sustainability assessments and questionnaires including The Sustainability Project survey – a tool utilized by utility clients to educate suppliers on environmental best practices, benchmark their sustainability progress, and grow their sustainability programs.

By aligning our business practices with ESG values, we unlock new opportunities for growth, differentiation, and long-term value creation. Doing so allows us to anticipate regulatory risks, market shifts, and changing consumer preferences. And perhaps most importantly, we leave a positive impact that extends far beyond the balance sheet – a legacy of sustainability and responsibility.

Across the Atwell Family of Companies, we are continually evaluating our corporate sustainability program, embedding it into our core business operations.  To support our commitment, Atwell has a dedicated ESG Panel that is leading the organization’s vision and driving our efforts forward with the support of executive leadership.

Deb Wilson, Vice President of Safety, Sustainability and Compliance is leading the Atwell ESG Panel which is composed of Atwell, RVi and SCS employees from various departments and levels of the Atwell Family of Companies who each dedicate their talent to the cause.  The ESG Panel is dedicated to developing ongoing initiatives that highlight sustainability, as much as understanding industry trends.

With support of executive leadership, the ESG Panel and their efforts serve as a testament to Atwell’s dedication to thoughtful, action-oriented initiatives. With geographic, market, and client expansion on the horizon, leading the industry with an ESG strategy is incredibly important. Our internal sustainability efforts, combined with projects that support clients in achieving their ESG goals, help position us for continued long-term growth.
