Atwell continues growth in Florida with acquisition of Banks Engineering, expanding engineering, planning, and surveying services

 

Jan. 11, 2024 (Southfield, MI) – Atwell has acquired BEI Engineering Group, LLC, doing business as Banks Engineering, a 90-person firm providing civil engineering, planning, and land surveying services. The acquisition of Banks Engineering continues to strengthen Atwell’s resources and capabilities in Florida, specifically in Fort Myers and Port Charlotte. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. 

Banks Engineering has provided Florida with civil engineering, planning, and land surveying for more than 30 years. Founded in 1992, Banks Engineering has supported private sector work for a diverse range of clients throughout the state of Florida. The firm provides professional expertise at every stage, from initial concept to project completion and beyond.

The acquisition of Banks Engineering follows Atwell’s most recent acquisitions of Summit Engineering, a civil engineering and land surveying firm in Heber City, Utah, and Mead Gilman & Associates, a land surveying firm located in Woodinville, Washington.

Atwell expands to Utah with acquisition of Summit Engineering Group

Oct. 3, 2023 (Southfield, MI) – Atwell has acquired the operations of Summit Engineering Group, a civil engineering and land surveying firm headquartered in Heber City, Utah. This is Atwell’s first permanent office in Utah, adding to the company’s recent expansion in the western United States. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2001 by Brian Balls and Michael Johnston, Summit offers a wide variety of professional and technical services throughout Utah. Their employees have a broad range of construction experience, utilizing design software and data reporting methods that help ensure accuracy, construction feasibility, efficiency, and low construction costs.

In the last two months, Atwell acquired Mead Gilman & Associates, a land surveying firm located in Woodinville, Washington, and Bay Engineering, a civil engineering, land surveying, and environmental services firm headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland.

Atwell expands in Pacific Northwest with office in Tacoma, Washington

Atwell continues its expansion in the Pacific Northwest with the opening of a new office in Tacoma, Washington. The team in Tacoma focuses on engineering, survey, and design services.

Jim Cook, Associate Director at Atwell, is leading the Tacoma team, which includes project managers, designers, engineers, and permit technicians. With this additional office, Atwell has more than 100 employees in the Pacific Northwest.

The Tacoma office is yet another example of Atwell’s commitment to clients in the Pacific Northwest and nationwide. Atwell has an established office in Portland, Oregon, and six offices throughout the state of Washington with its recent acquisitions of Blueline in March and Mead Gilman & Associates earlier this month.

Danielle Peoples joins Atwell as Associate Director to expand public engagement and communications capabilities

We’re pleased to welcome Danielle Peoples to Atwell as Associate Director. With more than a dozen years in the industry, Danielle joins Atwell with a diverse range of leadership experiences including strategic engagement, communications, change management processes, and crisis responses. As Associate Director, Danielle will assist in cross-departmental collaboration as well as the implementation of stakeholder engagement strategies for power and energy clients and beyond.

Danielle has a wealth of experience in the energy industry, particularly working with high-risk, high-visibility, renewable infrastructure projects, including offshore wind and hydrogen. She is passionate about giving back to her community as well as participating in energy and leadership networks.

Atwell expands services in Pacific Northwest with acquisition of land surveyor Mead Gilman & Associates

Sept. 6, 2023 – Atwell has acquired the operations of Mead Gilman & Associates, a land surveying firm located in Woodinville, Washington. Mead Gilman & Associates has been serving the Pacific Northwest for more than 60 years and specializes in 3D mapping and modeling, subdivisions/platting, boundary surveys, mapping/topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, and more.

The acquisition of Mead Gilman & Associates continues to strengthen Atwell’s resources and capabilities in the Pacific Northwest, building upon the acquisition of Blueline earlier this year. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Atwell continues expansion in Mid-Atlantic with acquisition of Bay Engineering, Inc.

Aug. 2, 2023 – Atwell announced today that it has acquired Bay Engineering, Inc., an engineering, surveying, and environmental firm headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland. The firm specializes in land development services for both public and private clients throughout Central and Southern Maryland. This acquisition continues to strengthen Atwell’s presence in the Mid-Atlantic, building upon the firm’s acquisition of Ben Dyer Associates, Inc. in 2022. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Bay Engineering – together with its affiliate Bay Environmental, Inc. – provides technical consulting services for commercial, industrial, retail, and residential projects. Its services include engineering design, land surveying, land use and site planning, permit processing, stormwater management, environmental consulting, and more. The company has worked closely with local government agencies for years, supporting its clients’ real estate development needs.

Chris Duda joins Atwell as Director of Special Projects

 

We’re pleased to welcome Christopher Duda to Atwell as a Director of Special Projects in our Lakewood, Colorado office. Christopher has more than 20 years of experience working in the surveying industry, specifically serving in a managerial role for the past 10 years. As Director, he will concentrate on client development, providing top-notch services, and fostering staff stability and growth across all of Atwell’s markets.

Christopher has a wealth of expertise supporting projects from conception to completion in the public and private sectors, particularly in the transportation, government, land development, renewable energy, public utilities, and oil and gas markets. Christopher participates in several professional network organizations and believes in giving back to the communities in which we work. Christopher is a licensed professional land surveyor in Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming and working on other strategic states to help expand Atwell’s national footprint.

Hunter Hyde joins Atwell as Director of Land Development

 

Atwell has recently hired Hunter Hyde as Director of Land Development in our Marietta, Georgia office. With more than 22 years of experience in civil engineering design, project and program management, and construction management, Hunter’s leadership and expertise will be an excellent addition to the land development team.

Hunter has gained extensive experience in land development design and has worked on a wide range of large and small-scale residential, commercial, municipal, and infrastructure projects. He is certified by the State Soil and Water Conservation Commission to design and review erosion control best management practices and an accredited LEED Green Associate. He also has extensive experience in implementing many of the measures in the Georgia Storm Water Management Manual for managing storm water quantity while maintaining and improving water quality.

Hunter believes in challenging his team daily to expand their knowledge, grow in their careers, and invest in their professional development. We are thrilled to welcome Hunter to Atwell.
