August 7, 2025 (Southfield, MI) – As part of its continued growth and expansion, Atwell is pleased to announce that it has acquired a majority stake in Centurion Power, a company based in Washougal, Washington, that provides third-party electrical acceptance testing, inspection, certification, and commissioning, serving the electrical power industry. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Centurion Power specializes in electrical acceptance testing, commissioning, and maintenance testing, serving clients in the utility, power generation, renewable energy, industrial, and mission critical/data center markets.

This addition is the fourth for Atwell in 2025 to support its ongoing growth and service to its clients throughout the U.S. These additions have added and expanded key services for Atwell in civil engineering, surveying, and electrical testing.

Atwell is excited to share that Gary Bland has joined the company as Director, based in Houston, Texas.

Bland brings with him nearly three decades of experience, with deep knowledge of Land and Right-of-Way (ROW), project management, permitting, easement, and property acquisition, surveying, construction, and environmental assessment. He has also demonstrated outstanding leadership and team management skills in various organizations. With a wealth of experience in major oil and gas projects, Bland will support Atwell’s focus on pipeline and electric transmission projects.

Prior to his new role with Atwell, Bland managed thousands of miles of pipeline projects while ensuring client satisfaction and budget compliance to completion. Bland’s work and impact can be seen nationwide with projects that span the country. His operational expertise will be a great attribute to Atwell’s existing team of experienced professionals, providing our clients with exceptional planning and execution.

June 11, 2025 (Southfield, MI) – Atwell has acquired the operations of Capital Civil Engineering (CCE), an engineering firm located in Apex, North Carolina. This acquisition expands Atwell’s presence in North Carolina and the Southeast.

With a 15-year history of engineering excellence, CCE is known for its expertise in engineering, site planning, land planning, and stormwater management. Founded by Michael Kane and co-owned by Michael McQuillen, the CCE team has decades of experience with regional and national projects.

This is Atwell’s third acquisition in 2025, preceded by the acquisition of Georgia-based SEI Engineering in January 2025 and Arizona-based Terrascape Consulting in February 2025.

Feb. 24, 2025 (NEW YORK) – Development of New York City’s first-ever soccer-specific stadium, Etihad Park, has begun, with Atwell supporting New York City Football Club (FC) by overseeing the quality program and providing essential testing, special inspection, and certification services required by the New York City Department of Buildings. This $780 million stadium is being privately financed by New York City FC and will serve as the Club’s future home. Alongside Citi Field and the US Tennis Association Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, it will further establish Willets Point, Queens as a premier sports hub. The facility will feature 25,000 seats; premium seating options; a 9,000-square-foot outdoor gathering area and bar dubbed the Supporters Porch; and an impressive seven-story entryway known as The Cube, as well as fan shops, diverse dining options, and scenic city views.

Effective quality program management and construction quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) are essential to ensuring the safety and stability of the stadium’s life safety systems. These systems include structural, fire protection, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, all of which are critical to safeguarding occupants and substantiating structural integrity. Atwell’s team is committed to verifying that each inspected system is constructed in strict compliance with the project’s design and specifications.

Quality program management not only enhances a project’s quality, functionality, and reliability, but is also essential for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This process encompasses testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) services, involving the technical responsibility of all third-party inspections mandated by the City of New York.

As a testament to New York City FC’s commitment to sustainability, Etihad Park will be the first fully electric soccer stadium in Major League Soccer and the first fully electric professional sports stadium in New York City. The project’s sustainability plan includes solar panels installed on the roof, a water harvesting system below the field, and locally sourced materials—all of which will be tested and inspected by the Atwell team.

The stadium is a central element in the Willets Point Redevelopment, aimed at revitalizing the economic and social landscape of Willets Point, Queens. New York City FC, alongside Queens Development Group, is responsible for this transformational project, which includes 2,500 units of affordable housing units, a public school, a hotel, and 150,000 square feet of public open space. The project is expected to generate $6.1 billion in economic activity and thousands of jobs.

Etihad Park, the future home of New York City FC’s First Team, is scheduled to open at the start of the 2027 soccer season.

Atwell is pleased to welcome Josh Breedlove as Director in Colorado.

A Colorado native with over 23 years of land surveying experience, Breedlove has dedicated his career to supporting land development projects throughout the state. His expertise spans residential, commercial, municipal, and industrial projects, with a deep understanding of the Colorado market.

In his new role, Breedlove will lead surveying operations, managing project workflows, and overseeing field and office teams to ensure the successful execution of projects. He will also play a key role in business development, building strong client relationships, and identifying new growth opportunities. Breedlove is committed to mentoring and developing team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.

Breedlove has worked on a range of complex projects, helping clients navigate technical and regulatory challenges while delivering high-quality surveying solutions. Most recently, he served as the licensed surveyor supporting the City of Denver’s platting, legal, and design efforts for the 100+ acre redevelopment of the National Western Center. Before that, Breedlove was a vital part of the Encompass Business Park project in Dove Valley, Colorado, where he managed the construction staking and layout for the first four phases of this large industrial and flex space development.

We are thrilled to announce that Amir Ahmadzadeh, P.E., PMP, LEED AP, has joined Atwell as Vice President. Ahmadzadeh brings 20 years of leadership experience in engineering, design, construction, and operations, with a proven track record of driving business growth and delivering exceptional client outcomes.

As Vice President at Atwell, Ahmadzadeh will lead operational strategy, resource development, strategic growth, engineering problem solving, and client engagement initiatives while supporting our expansion across key markets regionally, and nationally. His deep understanding of the permitting processes, infrastructure design, technical services, and project management will be invaluable in advancing our mission to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions.

In his former role as Vice President of Mid-Atlantic Operations for EXP, Ahmadzadeh spearheaded the company’s expansion, and opening of new offices in the Mid-Atlantic and growing the local team to 60 professionals. His previous experience also includes Manager of Construction and Field Operations Support at Washington Gas, where he oversaw multimillion-dollar budgets, managed cross-functional teams, and streamlined operations in permitting, paving, and invoicing. Ahmadzadeh’s extensive experience spans civil and transportation projects, sustainable design, and compliance with federal and state environmental processes.

Feb. 4, 2025 (Southfield, MI) – Atwell has continued to extend its reach by acquiring the operations of Terrascape Consulting, adding expertise in engineering and surveying to its resources in the Southwest. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Terrascape, founded in 2006, is based in Phoenix, Arizona. The company is deeply committed to client service and brings knowledge of the region’s unique style and landscapes. It offers a comprehensive set of engineering and surveying services spanning both the public and private sectors. Terrascape brings expertise in multi-family, affordable housing, single-family, build-to-rent, industrial, and retail projects.

January 21, 2025 (Southfield, MI) – As part of its continued growth and expansion, Atwell has acquired the operations of SEI Engineering, Inc. (SEI). SEI is based in Marietta, Georgia, and has a more than 25-year history of engineering excellence. This acquisition increases Atwell’s depth and strength in the Southeast, particularly in engineering and surveying services. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

SEI was founded in 1999 by Chad Epple. With numerous clients across public and private sectors, the company’s projects include several nationally recognized developments (for example, Serenbe), mixed-use developments, educational facilities, public transportation facilities, commercial/industrial complexes, public parks, recreational facilities, and aviation.

From the start of 2024 to now, Atwell has experienced exciting changes and progress that have better equipped us to serve our clients, support our communities, and continue producing innovative work in the industry. Here’s a look back at some of our milestones from 2024:

In January, we announced exciting news about our expansion in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic with two acquisitions: Banks Engineering and Karins and Associates. With more than 30 years of private sector work in Florida, the acquisition of Banks Engineering has bolstered Atwell’s resources and capabilities in Florida. Meanwhile, Karins and Associates came with a diverse group of clients and more than 50 years of engineering, surveying, and planning services in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.

In February, we recognized our employees and their hard work, dedication, and achievements with a company-wide celebration in Las Vegas. As a firm with a mix of remote, hybrid, and on-site employees, it was a wonderful opportunity for our employees and their guests to connect in-person, hear from senior leaders, and get energized for the upcoming year.

At that same event, our DEI+B Committee also led a philanthropy project in partnership with Clean the World, an organization that strives to improve the health of children and families around the world while reducing waste. Our employees assembled 2,000 hygiene kits in six hours! One kit provides a person with five days of essential hygiene. By assembling 2,000 kits, we provided 100,000 hand washes, 42,000 showers, and 84,000 toothbrushes to people experiencing homelessness in the Las Vegas area.

In March, we shared more about Atwell’s ESG program development, giving details on the initial program, the evolution of our ESG panel, and the vision for continued sustainable impact driven by our employees. We continued growing our reach in the Southeast with the opening of our new Birmingham, Alabama office in April, our first in the state. The Birmingham team, led by Director Kyle Wood, specializes in Real Estate & Land Development as well as Power & Energy.

In June, Atwell acquired Biscayne Engineering, which had offices in Miami and Boca Raton, Florida. A staple in South Florida’s growth and development since 1898, Biscayne Engineering values and vision greatly aligned with Atwell’s, and we’re excited to work and grow together. Also in June, Atwell acquired Hydro Consultants, a professional surveying, engineering, and mapping company located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This expanded our presence in the Gulf Coast region, adding on to our surveying capabilities with services like hydrographic surveys, pipeline route surveys, industrial site surveys, and more.

In July, we unveiled a special project that was many months in the making—our transition to atwell.com and our new website! Our new website has several new features, user-friendly navigation, and a fresh look that truly represents our brand’s vision and culture.

In September, Atwell was recognized as #16 on Zweig Group’s 2024 “Best Firms to Work For” list! We ranked highest in culture, benefits, and recruiting and retention. It was an honor to be acknowledged among the best in the industry, we look forward to continuing to grow and thrive as a company.

In December, Chief Operating Officer Dan McNulty gave an overview of Atwell’s growth and accomplishments in 2024, along with the announcement of a new initiative: the Atwell Gives Foundation. He also discussed opportunities in the mission critical market for 2025 and continuing to support clients and employees while maintaining a strong culture.
