Sports, academics, and a surge in population drive the expansion of Orlando Health, addressing current needs and laying the groundwork for future development.
Project goals
Orlando Health, a not-for-profit healthcare system that serves the southeastern United States and Puerto Rico, is expanding its facilities to accommodate the region’s rapid growth. With the increasing population, Orlando Health recognized the need for specific medical services and decided to expand its facilities to not only treat more patients in state-of-the-art hospitals but also create an environment for employee development, health-related research, specialized training for medical students, and a campus that can host conferences and symposiums for the medical community. The expansion initiative includes the construction of the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute and the Orlando Health Digestive Health Institute.
Outcomes
Atwell’s Orlando teams were excited to support the growth and the opportunities it will bring. To assist with the initial projects, we provided civil engineering and survey services for the two Institutes and the South Central Energy Plant, including the design and permitting for the underground utility systems. In addition to the current campus scope, we worked alongside Orlando Health and project stakeholders to support planning for future campus growth.
