This work was performed for a leading transmission utility focused on expanding and strengthening regional electric infrastructure to support long-term grid reliability and increasing energy demand. Atwell partnered with the client to provide comprehensive survey, environmental, permitting, and land support services for a major 345 kV transmission line project designed to enhance regional transmission capacity and system resiliency.

Project goals

Support development of a new 345 kV transmission line as part of a broader Long Range Transmission Planning (LRTP) initiative aimed at improving grid reliability and accommodating future energy needs across the region. The project required detailed corridor survey services, including boundary surveys of impacted parcels and preparation of individual easement exhibits to support routing, engineering, substation development, and land acquisition activities. Additional project goals included identifying environmental constraints, supporting permitting efforts, and coordinating with stakeholders to help advance critical transmission infrastructure.

Outcomes

Atwell delivered comprehensive survey and land support services that informed routing and engineering of the 345 kV transmission corridor. Services included boundary surveys for impacted parcels and preparation of parcel-specific easement exhibits that streamlined land acquisition and project development activities. Environmental evaluations and permitting support helped identify key constraints and facilitate coordination with regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
